Knysna is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches of South Africa and all of them are close to our guesthouse, just a few minutes drive from Candlewood. Two of these beaches on the Indian Ocean even have Blue Flag status – standing for clean, unspoiled beaches world wide. Only a handful in South Africa gain this status and two of them are in Knysna. # 5 on our list is not a beach on the sea. It is a small River Beach at the Riverdeck where you can have a swim in the Goukama Rivier. Only a few km further you find a beautiful beach and even some waves for surfing at Buffalo Bay, which we have ranked # 4. A beach in the Lagoon is called Bollard Beach and is our # 3 on Leisure Island. There are not many waves, but watch out for the current on high tide. Our second choice and # 2 is Brenton Beach, a 4,5 km long unbelievable beach with beautiful rocks. On the top with nice views on the drive is # 1 Noetzi Beach.
